Boughton (Weekley), Northamptonshire

Historical Description

Boughton, a hamlet in Weekley parish, Northamptonshire, 3½ miles NE of Kettering. Boughton House here belonged formerly to the Montagues, and is now one of the seats of the Duke of Buceleuch. It is a huge quadrangular building, surrounded by splendid avenues of elms and limes, and it contains many valuable paintings, tapestries, and articles of furniture.
