Newarp, Norfolk

Historical Description

Newarp, a sandbank off the E coast of Norfolk, outside Yarmouth Roads. It is nearly conjoined with the Cross Sand, measures with that sand about 8 miles from N to S, and is engirt with a sea-depth of from 8 to 20 fathoms. A lightship at the N end, in a depth of 7 fathoms, was placed there in 1791.
