East and West Rimton, Norfolk
Historical Description
Rimton, East and West, form a parish in Norfolk, on the coast, 2½ miles W by N from Cromer. There is a station at West Runton on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway, and there is a post, money order, and telegraph office at East Runton, under Cromer. Acreage of parish, 1263; population, 601. The living is a rectory, annexed to Aylmerton, in the diocese of Norwich; joint gross value, £382 with residence. The church is an ancient building of flint in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and an embattled western tower. It was partly restored in 1886. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
