The Maw or Mawddach, Merionethshire
Historical Description
Maw or Mawddach, The, a river of Merionethshire. It rises under Carn Twrog, runs about 10 miles southward to the vicinity of Dolgelly, begins there to widen slowly into anestuary, and goes thence about 9 miles south-westward to the sea at Barmouth. It traverses very fine scenery, and it makes three picturesque falls-one of 60 feet in Dolmelyn-Llyn Park, another of 60 feet called the Mawddach Fall, the third of 150 feet called the Pistyll-y-Cain.
