Primrose Hill, Middlesex
Historical Description
Primrose Hill, a grass-covered eminence in the NW of the metropolis, adjacent to the NW side of Regent's Park, 3½ miles NW by N of St Paul's. It is pierced through the N skirt by a tunnel of the North-Western railway, 3360 feet long, and it adjoins on the S Barrow Hill with the West Middlesex Eeservoir. A good view may be obtained from its summit, and at its base there are a cricket-ground and a public gymnasium. Primrose Hill was the scene of the murder of Sir E. Godfrey in 1678.
