Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire
Historical Description
Husbands Bosworth, a township and a large parish in Leicestershire, 1½ mile from the Welford and Kilworth station, and the same distance from the Theddingworth station on the L. & N.W.R., and 6½ miles SW by W from Market Har-borough. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office under Rugby. Acreage, 3560; population, 845. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; gross value, £611 with residence. The church is an ancient edifice of stone, chiefly in the Early English style. It was restored in 1861 and again in 1867. There are also Baptist and Wesleyan chapels. There are hiring fairs in Jan. and Sept, and a horse and cattle fair on 16 Oct. Brickmaking is carried on. Bosworth Hall is a fine ancient mansion, standing in a park of about 100 acres. In the park there is a small Roman Catholic chapel.

The cemetery, on the Welford road, is 1 1/2 acres in extent and was formed in 1858, at a cost of £1,500: it has two chapels.

Church of England
All Saints (parish church)
The church of All Saints is an ancient building of stone, principally in the Early English and Decorated styles, with Perpendicular additions, consisting of chancel, clerestoried nave, aisles, north and south porches and a massive western tower, with pinnacles and a lofty octagonal broach spire, containing 5 bells, which were recast and rehung in 1907: there is a tablet to Vice-Admiral Sir Francis Mason K.C.B. d. 17 May, 1863: the east window, which has rich Geometrical tracery, is stained, as well no the west window in the tower and several others: the north aisle was rebuilt in 1812: the church was restored in 1861 and again in 1867, at a cost of £3,000: in 1895 the tower and spire were restored and a lightning conductor added: there are 500 sittings.
