Hollinfare, Lancashire

Historical Description

Hollinfare, a parish formed out of Warrington parish, Lancashire, comprising Rixton-cum-Glazebrook township, on the river Mersey, 1 mile from Glazebrook station on the Cheshire Lines Committee railway, and 6 miles ENE of Warrington. There is a post office at Hollins Green, under Warrington; money order and telegraph office, Cadishead. Population, 1195. Lord Winmarleigh is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Liverpool; gross value, £186 with residence. Patron, the Rector of Warrington. The church, dedicated to St Helen, was rebuilt in 1735 and restored in 1882, and has chancel, nave, aisle, and porch. There are also Wesleyan, Primitive Methodist, and Roman Catholic chapels.
