Historical Description
Gale, a small place in Sharples township, Bolton-le-Moors parish, Lancashire, 2 miles N of Bolton. Galeforth, a streamlet of Westmorland, falling into the river Sprint, in Long Sleddale, 1 mile N of Stockdale. It 'has a fall of about 300 feet, called Galeforth Spout.
