Small Hythe, Kent
Historical Description
Small Hythe, an ecclesiastical parish in Kent, on an affluent of the river Rother, 2½ miles SE of Tenterden, and 5½ W of Appledore station on the S.E.R. Pest town, Tenterden, under Staplehurst. Population, 232. An estuary extended hither from Rye so late as the middle of the 16th century. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; gross value, £260. The church is a plain brick building in the Perpendicular style.
