Historical Description
Sellinge, a village and a parish in Kent. The village stands 2 miles from Smeeth station on the S.E.R., and 5 NW by W of Hythe, is a scattered place, and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Hythe. The parish comprises 1928 acres; population of the civil parish, 626; of the ecclesiastical, 632. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; gross value, £290 with residence. The church is old, and has a low Norman tower. There are a Wesleyan chapel and some considerable charities.
