Plaxtol, Kent
Historical Description
Plaxtol, a village and an ecclesiastical district in Wrotham civil parish, Kent. The village stands 7 miles ESE of Seven Oaks station and 3 of Wrotham strtion on the L.C. & D.R. and the S.E.R., and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Seven Oaks. The ecclesiastical district was constituted in 1844. Population, 986. Fairlawn, a seat of the Cazalet family, is a handsome mansion in an extensive park. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury; net value, £300 with residence. Patron, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is unique, having been built by order of Parliament in the time of Cromwell, 1649. It is in the Late Perpendicular style.
