Langton or Langton Green, Kent

Historical Description

Langton or Langton Green, an ecclesiastical parish in Speldhurst parish, Kent, 1¼ mile S by W of Speldhurst village. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Tunbridge Wells. Population, 661. It contains several gentlemen's seats and neat villas. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; value, £180 with residence, in the gift of the Rector of Speldhurst. The church was erected in 1863 and enlarged in 1889, is a small building of stone in the Early English style. There is a small Wesleyan chapel.
