Hoo St Mary, Kent
Historical Description
Hoo St Mary, a village and a parish in Kent The village stands 1½ mile S of the Thames, 2 miles from Shamal Street station on the S.E.R., and 6½ NE of Rochester, and occupies a comparatively high site, with a belt of marsh between it and the Thames. Acreage, 1946 of land and 925 of tidal water and foreshore; population, 290. The Earl of Jersey is lord of the manor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Rochester; value, £400. The church consists of nave and chancel, with a tower, and has been restored.
