Historical Description
Goodnestone or Gunston, a village and a parish in Kent. The village stands 1½ mile E by N of Adisham station on the L.C. & D.R., and 6 miles WSW of Sandwich, and has a post office under Dover; money order and telegraph office, Nonington. The parish comprises 1864 acres; population, 397. Goodnestone Park is a seat in the neighbourhood. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; value, £200. The church has an Early English aisle and a Kentish Late English tower, but is mainly modern. The families of Boys, Engeham, Bridges, Richards, and Bradnax are commemorated by tablet, slab, or monument. There are brasses of 1423, 1507, and 1558.
