Ballasalla, Isle of Man
Historical Description
Ballasalla, a village in Kirk-Malew parish, Isle of Man, on the Silver Burn, and on the road to Douglas, 2— miles NNE of Castletown. It has a post office under Douglas, and remains of a Cistercian abbey founded in 1098 by Mac Manus, king of Man, enlarged and richly endowed by his successors, and given in 1134 to Furness Abbey.
