Steep Hill, Isle of Wight

Historical Description

Steep Hill, an eminence, a cove, a cascade, and a mansion on the S coast of the Isle of Wight, three-quarters of a mile WSW of Ventnor. The mansion was built in 1835, is a castellated structure, and occupies the site of a cottage erected by Governor Stanley, and afterwards inhabited by Lord Dysart.
