Scratchells Bay, Isle of Wight

Historical Description

Scratchells Bay, a bay at the SE extremity of the Isle of Wight, near the Needles. It measures about half a mile across, is overhung by precipitous cliffs from 400 to 500 feet high, with a magnificent natural arch 180 feet in span and 200 high, and commands very wild and romantic views.
