Whinfell, Cumberland

Historical Description

Whinfell, a township in Brigham parish, and partly in Lorton ecclesiastical parish, Cumberland, 3½ miles S of Cockermouth town and railway station. Post town and telegraph office, Cockermonth; money order office, High Lorton. It comprises the hamlet of Rogerscale. Acreage, 1747; population, 95. Lord Leconfield is lord of the manor.
