Underskiddaw, Cumberland

Historical Description

Underskiddaw, a township in Crostbwaite parish, Cumberland, about 3 miles from Keswick station on the Cockermouth, Keswick, and Penrith railway. There is a post office at Applethwaite; money order and telegraph office, Keswick. It comprises the hamlets of Great Crosthwaite, Applethwaite, and Millbeck. Acreage, 5875 of land and 151 of water; population, 464. The parish church stands in this township.
