Pont Nedd Fychan or Pont Neath Vaughan, Glamorgan

Historical Description

Pont-Nedd-Fychan or Pont-Neath-Vaughan, a village in Cadoxton parish, at the boundary of Glamorgan and Brecknockshire, adjacent to the confluence of the rivers Neath and Pyrddin with the rivers Mellte and Hepste, 21 miles NE of Glyn Neath station on the Vale of Neath section of the G.W.R., 8 NW by W of Aberdare, and 9 NE of Neath. It lies under a narrow gorge of the valley of the river Neath, has a picturesque one-arched bridge over the river, and serves as a tourists' centre for exploring much romantic scenery in its neighbourhood. There are extensive gunpowder mills and a Calvinistic Methodist chapel.
