Penderry, Glamorgan
Historical Description
Pendeny, a township in Llangyfelach parish, Glamorgan, I¾ mile E of Gorseinon station on the L. & N.W.R., and 5 miles N of Swansea. There is a post office at Penllergaer, under Gorseinon (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Gorseinon. Acreage, 5713 , population, 4077. Under the Local Government Act of 1894, Penderry has been divided into two parishes-an urban and a rural. The urban is included in the county borough of Swansea, and the rural has a parish council consisting of thirteen members. Penllergaer is the residence of the baronet family of Dillwyn-Llewelyn. There are a chapel of ease (St David's), and Baptist, Calvinistic Methodist, and Congregational chapels.
