Cwmamman, Glamorgan
Historical Description
Cwmamman, a township situated partly in Llandilo-fawr parish, and partly in Bettws. The ecclesiastical district is composed of portions of Llandilo-fawr, Llandebie, Bettws, Llangadock, and Llanguick parishes, in Glamorgan and Carmarthenshire. The village stands on the river Amman, near Garnant station on the Garnant branch of the G.W.R., 10 miles SW of Llandilo, under the Black Mountains; it has a post office under Llanelly. The ecclesiastical district was constituted in 1843. Population, 5403. The scenery is alpine and picturesque. The living is a vicarage in th& diocese of St David's; net value, £300 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of St David's. The church is an edifice of 1841. There are Congregational, Baptist, and Calvinistic Methodist chapels.
