Bettisfield, a township and ecclesiastical parish in Hanmer parish, Flintshire, in the detached portion of the county lying between Shropshire and Denbighshire, with a station on the Cambrian railway, 3 miles SE of Hanmer, and 4¼ NE of Ellesmere. It has a post office under Whitchurch; money order and telegraph office, Hanmer. Acreage, 2308; population, 395. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St Asaph; net value, £222 with residence. Patron, Sir Wyndham Hanmer, Bart., wliose family seat is Bettisfield Park, and amongst whose ancestors were Sir Thomas Hanmer, Speaker in Queen Anne's reign and editor of Shakespeare, and Sir John Hanmer, Constable of Carnarvon Castle in the time of Edward I.
