Gibside, Durham
Historical Description
Gibside, on the N border of Durham, on the river Derwent, 6 miles SW of Gateshead. It is an embattled edifice of Jacobean character, contains some valuable pictures, and stands amid beautiful and picturesque grounds. It was formerly the property of the Marley and BIakiston families, but is at present unoccupied.
