Dewarstone, Devon

Historical Description

Dewarstone, a picturesque cliff in the valley of the Cad, Dartmoor, Devonshire. It was a haunt of the poet Carring-ton, and is inscribed with his name. It seems also to have had connection with the heathen worship of the ancient Saxons; and it figures in a fantastic, popular, superstitious legend.

Transcribed from The Comprehensive Gazetteer of England & Wales, 1894-5
