Derby Canal, Derbyshire

Historical Description

Derby Canal, a waterway in Derbyshire, extending between' Little Eaton, Derby, and Swarkestone, on the Trent, and between Derby and Sandiacre, where it joins the Erewash Canal. The total length of the canal is 18 miles 20 chains, and it contains 15 locks. The water supply is from the river Derwent.
