Wynnstay, Denbighshire

Historical Description

Wynnstay, the seat of the baronet family of Williams-Wynn, in Ruabon parish, Denbighshire, near Ruabon. It was rebuilt in 1861, and occupies the site of the ancient residence of Madoc ap Grufwydd Maelor, the founder of Valle Crucis Abbey. The park is nearly 8 miles in circumference, has much natural beauty, and contains some objects of interest, such as a Doric column 101 feet high, the Waterloo Tower, a bath 40 feet by 20, &c.
