Applethwaite, Cumberland
Historical Description
Applethwaite, a village on the ascent of Skiddaw, 2 miles N of Keswick, Cumberland. It has a post office under Kes-wick, and commands a splendid view of Derwentwater and the surrounding mountains. A small property adjacent to it was given by Sir George Howland Beaumont to the poet Wordsworth.
