Porthcurnow, Cornwall
Historical Description
Porthcwrnow or Porth Kernow, a romantic cove in the SW of Cornwall, 1 mile W of Treryn Castle, and 7½ miles SW of Penzance. Its name signifies a port or cove surrounded by cams or rocky hills. These earns make a magnificent display of rock scenery, and the beach beneath them consists entirely of shell sands, with so many as 150 varieties of shells.
