Gear or Gaer, Cornwall

Historical Description

Gear or Gaer, an ancient camp in the S of Cornwall, half a mile N of Trelowarren, and 4½ miles ESE of Helston. It has a circular outline, occupies about 14 acres, commands the Helston river, and it is in a line with two smaller camps. A bridge in its neighbourhood over a branch of the Helston river above Mawgan bears the name of Gear Bridge.
