Plinlimmon, Cardiganshire

Historical Description

Plinlimmon, a mountain on the mutual border of Montgomeryshire and Cardiganshire, 12 miles W by N of Llanid-loes. It comprises three masses, which might be considered as three mountains; it forms the centre of a great mountain group, diverging into subordinate chains; it attains an altitude of 2469 feet; commands a very extensive but broken view; sends off from its shoulders the rivers Severn, Wye, Rheidol, Dulas, and Llyfnant, and was the camping-ground of Owen Glendower in 1401 at the outset of his career.
