Historical Description

Oldfield, a hamlet in Dunham Massey township, Bowdon parish, Cheshire, on the Bridgwater Canal, 1 mile W of Altrincham. Market gardening is carried on. There is an endowed school, originally founded for 50 children from Dunham Massey, Bowdon, and Altrincham. It is now carried on in new premises, erected in 1867, and having accommodation for 100 boys.
