St Hilary, Glamorgan

Historical Description

Hilary, St, a village and a parish in Glamorgan, 2 miles SE of Cowbridgc. There is a post office under Cowbridge; money order and telegraph office, Cowbridge. The parish comprises 1268 acres; population, 175. Remains exist of Beanpre Castle. The modern mansion is the seat of the Bas-—ett family. Limestone is found. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of LIandaff; gross value, £142 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of LIandaff. The church was restored in 1862.
