Tysoe, Warwickshire
Historical Description
Tysoe, a village and a parish in Warwickshire, 4¼ miles S of Kineton station on the East and West Junction railway, and 9 WNW of Banbury. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office under Warwick. Acreage, 4800; population of the civil parish, 910; of the ecclesiastical, with Compton Wyniates, 932. There is a parish council consisting of six members. The living is a vicarage, united with the rectory of Compton Wyniates, in the diocese of Worcester; joint net value, £150 with residence. Patron, the Marquis of Northampton. The church is Norman and Early English, and there was a Saxon church on the same site. It was restored in 1854. There are Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels.
