Ipsley, Warwickshire
Historical Description
Ipsley, a parish in Warwickshire, on the river Arrow, 2 miles S by E of Redditch station on the M.R. It contains part of Headless Cross village and part of Redditch town, each of which has a post, money order, and telegraph office, and contains also part of Crabs Cross village. Acreage, 2514; population of the civil parish, 2130; of the ecclesiastical, 864. The manufacture of needles and fish-hooks is carried on at Ipsley Mills. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Worcester; gross value, £586 with residence. The church is ancient, has a square embattled tower, and contains some old monuments of the Huband family. The church was restored in 1867. The rectory of Headless Cross is a separate benefice.
