Historical Description
Weston-by-Welland, a parish in Northamptonshire, on the river Welland, here separating Northamptonshire from Leicestershire, 1 mile W of Ashley and Weston on the Market Harborough and Peterborough section of the L. & N.W.R., and 4 miles NE of Market Harborough. Post town, and money order office, Market Harborough; telegraph office, Medbourne railway station. Acreage, 1029; population of the civil parish, 89; of the ecclesiastical, with Sutton Bassett, 266. The manor belongs to Viscount Downe. The living Is a vicarage, united with Sntton Bassett, in the diocese of Peterborough; joint gross value, £290 with residence. The church, rebuilt in 1866, consists of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and an embattled western tower.
