Westgate, Northumberland
Historical Description
Westgate, a township in Newcastle St John parish, Northumberland, on the river Tyne, within Newcastle borough, and forming the NW suburb of Newcastle town. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office, of the name of Westgate Hill, under Newcastle. Acreage, 237; population, 30,264. There are a church, several dissenting chapels, and a cemetery.
