Riding, Northumberland
Historical Description
Riding, a township in. Bywell St Andrew parish, Northumberland, on Watling Street, the river Tyne, and the Newcastle and Carlisle railway, at Riding Mill station, 5½ miles ESE of Hexham. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office, of the name of Riding Mill (R.S.O.) Acreage, 1036; population, 240. The manor belongs to the Beaumont family.
