Willingdon, Sussex
Historical Description
Willingdon, a village and a parish in Sussex. The village has a station on the L.B. & S.C.R., 59 miles from London, and 2½ N by W of Eastbourne, with a post, money order, and telegraph office. The parish extends to the coast, and comprises 4321 acres; population of the civil parish, 1521; of the ecclesiastical, 830. There is a parish council consisting of twelve members. Ratton Park is the chief residence. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; gross value, £288 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Chichester. The church is Early English, has a tower and spire, and contains several ancient monuments. Langney Fort and Anthony Hill Tower are in this parish.
