Wiston, Sussex

Historical Description

Wiston, a parish in Sussex, 2 miles WNW of Steyning station on the L.B. & S.C.R. It has a post office under Steyning; money order and telegraph office, Steyning. Acreage, 3098; population of the civil parish, 352; of the ecclesiastical, 311. Wiston Manor is the seat of the Goring family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £300 with residence. The church is chiefly Decorated English, and has been well restored.
