Historical Description
Slinfold, a village and a parish in Sussex. The village stands near the river Arun, with a station on the L.B. & S.C.R., 42 miles from London, and 4 WNW of Horsham. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Horsham. The parish comprises 4432 acres; population, 853. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. Strood Park and Slinfold Lodge are chief residences. The living is a vicarage and a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £280 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Chichester. The church was rebuilt in 1861, and is in the Early English style, with tower and spire. There is a Congregational chapel.
