Rudgwick or Ridgewick, Sussex
Historical Description
Rudgwick or Ridgewick, a village and a parish in Sussex. The village stands near the river Arun, 6 miles NW by W of Horsham, and has a station on the L.B. & S.C.R. 45 miles from London, and a post and money order office under Horsham; telegraph office at railway station. The parish contains also the hamlets of Bucks Green, Haven, Rowhook, and Tismans Common. Acreage, 6022; population, 1177. The parish council consists of eleven members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; gross value, £300 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Chichester. The church is a handsome edifice with a low tower, and has some fine stained glass windows, two of which were put up in 1866 as memorials of the Braby family, and a good organ. There is a Congregational chapel.
