Elstead, Surrey
Historical Description
Elstead, a village and a parish in Surrey. The village stands on the river Wey, 4½ miles W by S of Godalming station on the L. & S.W.R., and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Godalming. Acreage of parish, 4106; population, 775. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; net value, £19G with residence. The church is small and good, and was restored in 1872. There is a Congregational chapel and a young men's institute.
