Historical Description
Sharnford, a parish, with a village, in Leicestershire, on the river Soar and the Fosse Way, 4 miles NNW of Ullesthorpe station on the Rugby and Leicester branch of the M.R., 3 SW from Croft station on the Leicester and Nuneaton branch of the L. & N.W.R., and 4½ ESE of Hinckley. It has a post office under Hinckley; money order and telegraph office, Stony Stanton. Acreage, 1431; population, 361. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £250 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Decorated style. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
