Welton in the Marsh, Lincolnshire

Historical Description

Welton-in-the-Marsh, a parish, with a village and a hamlet, in Lincolnshire, on the East Lincoln railway, 1½ mile N of Burgh station, and 6 miles ENE of Spilsby. It has a post office under Burgh; money order and telegraph office, Burgh. Acreage, 2568; population of the civil parish, 322; of the ecclesiastical, with Gunby, 407. There is a parish council of six members and a chairman. The manor belongs to the Earl of Ancaster. The living is a vicarage, united with Gnnby rectory, in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £300 with residence. The church is a modern building of stone and brick. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
