Irby upon Humber, Lincolnshire
Historical Description
Irby-upon-Humber (to distinguish it from Irby-in-the-Marsh), a village and a parish in North Lincolnshire. The village stands on the Wolds, 5½ miles NE by E from Caistor, and 5 SW from Great Coates station on the M.S. & L.R. Post town, Gremsly; money order and telegraph office, Laceby. The parish comprises 1828 acres; population, 193. The property and the manor belong to the Earl of Yarborough. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £253 with residence. Patron, the Earl of Yarborough. The church has a Norman nave and arches, and is very good, having been lately restored. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
