Great Coates, Lincolnshire
Historical Description
Coates, Great, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire, on the Humber and on the M.S. & L.R., on which the village has a station, 2½ miles W of Great Grimsby. It has a post office (S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Great Grimsby. Acreage, 2688 of land and 496 of tidal water and foreshore; population, 217. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net yearly value, £502. The church, which is a building of stone in mixed styles, has several ancient brasses, and is good. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
