Newton by Chester, Cheshire
Historical Description
Newton-by-Chester, a township in Chester St Oswald parish, Cheshire, 1½ mile NE of Chester. It includes part of Flookersbrook, and comprises 441 acres; population, 507. The manor belongs to the Earl of Kiimorey. Newton Hall is a red brick mansion of the time of Queen Anne, and stands in extensive grounds. Newton Villa and Springfield are other chief residences. There are extensive nursery grounds.
