Yarnbury, Wiltshire

Historical Description

Yarnbury, an ancient British camp in the S of Wiltshire, on an isolated eminence, on Salisbury Plain, 7¼ miles NW of Wilton. It occupies 28 acres, measures 1716 yards in circuit, has six entrances and a rampart 52 feet high, and is the scene of a sheep and horse fair on 4 Oct.
