Staverton, Wiltshire

Historical Description

Staverton, an ecclesiastical parish in Wiltshire, on the river Avon, 2 miles N of Trowbridge station on the G.W.R. It was constituted in 1855. Post town, Trowbridge. Population, 347. There is a parish council consisting of five members. Cloth manufacture is carried on. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Salisbury; gross value, £100 with residence. The church is a small plain building of stone. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
